5 Five-minute Summer Styles - Part 1 {Updos}

Hey Guys!

I was playing around and came up with some awesomely easy breezy hairstyles which are perfect for summer. These styles were done on semi-straight hair, but I'm sure they could work on pretty much any texture with some tweakin' and twerkin' lol. Check out the first 5:

Remington Hot Rollers = LOVE!

I mentioned in a haul post a few weeks back that I had acquired some hot rollers a while ago. I had tried them on my niece's hair but hadn't gotten around to trying them out on mine. Well today (Sunday) I finally did and mayn...I'm in love. It's such a pity I'm planning on putting this hair away for the summer cuz these bad boys would be in my hair non-stop!!

Setting Things Straight - Wash day 6/20 {12 weeks post}

I started off by finger-detangling with water (the products I've been using lately seem to be reactivated with water, leaving my hair super soft without any added products) and then deep-conditioning with a plastic cap for about 2 hours. I used a mix of deep conditioners (Shea Moisture's Deep Treatment Masque & Restorative Conditioner + Aussie 3 minute Moist & Organics Hair Mayo for a kick of protein ).

Summer Time Fine!

A big part of most girls' summer, whether on a hair journey or not, is getting a "protective style" to allow them to be a little more carefree during this time. This style usually takes the form of braids or twists incorporating extensions. And for good reason too. There are a great many benefits of a long term braided/ twisted style:

  • Gives the hair a break
  • Promotes length retention
  • Saves time
  • Ease of styling
  • Breaks up the monotony
  • Aids with stretching

I have been half-way fiending for one of those styles for a few weeks now but can't decide on which one. I have been stalking youtube vids trying to decipher which is actually more beautiful, but your girl is stuck. I have narrowed it down to 2: "Patra", "poetic justice", or large box braids (whichever you like) vs. "Havana" or "Marley" twists. I really am in love with both. And these girls are making it harder to decide:

My Last Haul for a While.. I Promise

Hey Guys!

I wanted to share with you some products from my recent buy, so that I can go ahead and get into some juicier posts. This will be my last (big) haul for a while since I think I'm pretty much set for a long time.

Some of the stuff I'm really glad I got my hands on as I'd been wanting to try them for a long time but they weren't available in Japan and/ or are too expensive in Jamaica. I took full advantage of my last vacay trip, here's what I copped:

Just Not There Yet...

Today's post is a little different. Hair is still the topic, just not my hair. I am about to share with you my sister's recent hair story. And NO it's not one of those features where I ask her some cliché questions and listen to her typical answers. I'm about to give you the real, from my perspective.

New Beginnings...

Hello beautiful people!

I have been MIA for about 3 weeks! 3 weeks! Can you believe it?! But I have a good reason, I promise.

I was in Florida commemorating my nephew's birth and helping with his care thereafter.
